“I always like to say that it’s a mix of different factors,” Rossi suggests. “As a matter of fact, Peru has always been one of our driving markets in LatAm, and you always have the attention from the business to be kept on a quite substantial level of investment.

“But that is not just marketing. It also goes into product and into the way that you develop your offering and how you localise what you present or you offer to your customers. And without leaving out local talent, because of course the success also comes from the level of understanding of the market and the cultural embracement and to understand what the customers are really looking into when they have to choose between operators.

It has addressed ongoing questions faced by operators regarding when it is reasonable to close accounts, withhold or return player balances, cancel bets, or redistribute tournament prizes deemed fraudulently obtained. 

Notably, it has also provided insight into the evidentiary standards French courts expect operators to meet before taking corrective actions that could be subject to legal challenge.

The regulator identified six key categories of fraud frequently encountered in online gambling. These included identity fraud, payment fraud and abusive chargebacks. It also covered in-game cheating, money-dumping and sporting event manipulation

As the U.S. warms to the idea of online sports betting, the NCAA has taken steps to protect its athletes. Deputy General Counsel of the NCAA, Naima Stevenson Starks sat down with Calvinayre.com’s Becky Liggero Fontana to explain her organisation’s stance towards betting involving student athletes and maintaining the integrity of those competitions. 

Stevenson Starks shared those concerns that the NCAA has towards online sports betting in the U.S.:

“The two [concerns] are the integrity of athletic competition, and how that could potentially be impacted by a proliferation of legalized sports wagering. And then the second is really the health and well-being of student athletes.“
